Jhilmil plots Rajuk to receive applications from June 1
On completion of the distribution of plots in Purbachal and Uttara projects, Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (RAJUK) is going to offer plots at its Jhilmil Residential Project from June 1, reports BSS. RAJUK chairman Md Nurul Huda told BSS that initially they would call application for 1200 plots of three different sizes- two and a half katha, three katha and five katha. Only the affected people will be eligible for two and a half katha plot while the rest two categories will be opened to all. RAJUK has fixed deposit amount of Taka one lakh for two and a half Katha plot, Taka 1.5 lakhs for three katha plot and Taka 2.5 lakhs for five katha plot and people should submit their application by the set deadline August 25, this year. For expatriate Bangladeshis, RAJUK has fixed deposit amount of US$ 1,400 for two and a half katha, US$ 2,100 for three katha and US$ 3,500 for five katha. Bangladeshis living outside or inside the country have to collect plot- application and prospectus downloading from RAJUK website (www.rajukdhaka.gov.bd). Applicants have to deposit US$ 20 or Taka 1,000 along with the submission of application and the deposit-money for plot. Locals would be able to collect application and prospectus from Sonali, Janata and Agrani banks at Rajuk and Ramna corporate branches and Janata bank Uttara branch. Rajuk Chairman Nurul huda said reducing pressure on the capital and expanding civic facilities to the city dwellers is the objective of Rajuk and so we are going for planned urbanization at Jhilmil between Dhaka and Keraniganj. The Jhilmil project, is located at Keraniganj on the southern bank of the Buriganga beside Dhaka-Mawa highway, six kilometers off the zero point in the capital. RAJUK is going to construct about three-kilomteter long flyover from Golapshah Mazar to Babu Bazar that will connect Jhilmil area. He said 90 per cent of land-filling work in the project area have been completed and RAJUK got housing ministry's approval for distribution of plots. According to the new guidelines, people falling into the following categories will be eligible to apply. The categories are freedom fighter, journalist, government employee, official and employee of autonomous bodies, official and employee of armed forces, businessman, industrialist, private job holder, teacher, artist, literary and sport personality, remittance earner, lawyer, agriculturist, doctor and engineer. Minister, state minister, speaker, lawmaker and judge will qualify directly if they apply. Bangladesh University of Engineers and Technology (BUET) will conduct a lottery for allotting the plots. All necessary infrastructures and urban facilities including school, college, hospital, medical center, mosque, temple, church, playground and lake will be developed in the project area. RAJUK, since its inception is working for reducing acute problem of housing as well as expanding civic facilities by developing new townships. The latest one in Keraniganj is under execution. In 2001, RAJUK officials said, application was called for distribution of plots in Jhilmil residential area. Over 600 people had applied. Of them 20 applications were canceled and finally RAJUK published names of 585 allottees in daily newspapers. Of them around 345 allottes did not withdraw deposit money, so, they need not to apply for plots.
