Crash prog for online VAT registration to be launched soon

News Desk RANGPUR, Nov 2: Commissioner of the Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate in the district Shawkat Ali Sadi said a crash programme will be launched soon for bringing all unregistered business establishments under online VAT registration. Shawkat Ali Sadi said this at a views-exchange meeting held at Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) auditorium here recently as the chief guest. The RCCI organised the meeting to resolve problems facing by traders of the district in the process of implementation of the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act, 2012 and Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Rules 2016. RCCI President Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu presided over the event participated by incumbent and former officials and executives of RCCI, leaders of upazila level trade bodies, businesspersons, industrials and common traders of the city. Additional Commissioner of the Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, Rangpur Md. Abdul Mannan Saker attended the meeting as the special guest. The chief guest said the honest traders are regularly paying VAT while the unscrupulous traders evading VAT payment putting businesses of the honest and businesspersons under risks. "We will launch a crash program starting next month to bring unregistered business establishments under online VAT registration in Rangpur division," he said adding that initiative will also be taken to expand the periphery of VAT at district, upazila and grassroots levels. He said businesspersons are currently enjoying the facilities of online VAT payment at their own in a hassle-free manner without facing any unwanted harassment and complexity. "The seminar will organise workshops, meetings, seminars for the VAT payer businesspersons, entrepreneurs and industrialists to inspire them in paying VAT availing the online facilities," he added. Abdul Mannan Sarker said registered business establishments are enjoying more facilities in paying VAT which is an indirect tax payment system being run automatically by VAT paying establishments in paying revenue to the government.
