Dengue kills one more and attacks 430

News Report: An old man died of dengue at Dhanmondi's IBN Sina Hospital in the capital on Sunday morning. The deceased was identified as Delwar Hossain (6o) and a resident of the capital's Mirpur-10 area. IBN Sina Hospital duty medical officer Dr. Tahani Siam told The News Today that Delwar was admitted at the hospital on Saturday night. Meanwhile, a total of 430 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country in 24 hours till Sunday morning, indicating a slight improvement of the situation. Of them, 132 were hospitalised in Dhaka and 298 in other parts of the country, the Directorate General of Health Services said. Currently, 2,099 patients, including 875 in the capital, are being treated at hospitals, it said. The country has seen a massive outbreak of mosquito-borne disease dengue this year. But the situation has been improving in recent days with relatively low number of new cases. Since January, 84,827 people were hospitalised with dengue, most of them in Dhaka. Of them, 82,525 have made full recovery.
