City-dwellers cast vote safely: DMP

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia said city-dwellers casted their voting franchise in favour of their candidates of choice in festive, peaceful and safe manner, reports BSS. "We have inspected the overall security arrangement at over 100 polling centres across the capital. City- dwellers are casting their votes spontaneously for candidates of their choice without any fear in a peaceful environment," he said after visiting Tejgaon Government College in the city. "No problem has been taken place anywhere in the capital city. Talking to agent and polling agents of candidates of different political party we have come to know people are returning to their homes safely after casting their votes," he also said. "We have taken 'zero tolerance policy' against breaching of any code of conduct with taking comprehensive and foolproof security measures at each of the polling centres with deployment of appropriate numbers of law enforcers," he added. "A security blanket has been put over the capital as no evil force can hamper election environment by giving threat. Necessary security has been given to voters, candidates and their agents as they can exercise their voting rights," he further added. High officials of police accompanied the DMP commissioner.
