Govt giving priority to women development: Chumki

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki said the incumbent government is running it’s all works with giving priority to the development of women, reports BSS. “The Ministry has already taken a number of projects for the empowerment of women. A diabetic hospital for women and children has been set up at Segunbagicha in the capital in collaboration with Women and Children Affairs Ministry and Bangladesh Diabetic Samity” said Chumki The state minister was inaugurating a 50-bed hospital on `women and children diabetes, endocrine and metabolic’ at Uttara. About 1,000 patients will get treatment from the hospital in a day, she added. Professor AK Azad Khan, president of Bangladesh Diabetic Samity prsided over the meeting. Secretary of Women and Children Ministry Nasima Begum, Director General of Women and Children Directorate Kazi Rowshan Akter, Secretary of Bangladesh Diabetic Samity Mohammad Saifuddin and Bangladesh Diabetic Samity’s Chief Executive Officer NH Dr MA Samad, among others, attended the meeting. Another BSS report adds: A two-day workshop on Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Act, 2010, its Rules, 2013 was started from Wednesday aimed at making people aware against domestic violence against women. Women Support and Investigation Division (WSID), Dhaka Metropolitan Police and Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) are jointly organising the workshop in the capital. Deputy Commissioner of police Farida Yasmin and Executive Director Sheepa Hafiza gave inaugural speech on the occasion. The workshop is aimed at focusing on duty and responsibility of the police personnel in preventing sexual harassment in workplaces.
