Impact of awards in the field of fine arts

By Sujayendra Das

Fine arts are an interdisciplinary art form which spread the messages of unity among people of all religions and languages. To be more specific in this regard we find that fine arts transform our mental grooming to new heights so that we think positives about human beings of all kinds. Sometimes the influence of vicious elements damages our mental grooming to low ebb so that we tend to lose our sting in this eternity. But are going to lose our sting if we remain transparent to the core of our heart? In this regard if we remain sturdy to the core of our heart then we always transparent to our heart and also there are many people known to us in the field of fine arts who does not care about the awards rather they always aim to be dedicated to their tasks to achieve solace and joy in their lives. It cannot be denied at all that success in fine arts if sometimes fetch awards which no doubt is an added motivation and joy in their pursuit to carry on their dedication. There are still many people in the field who are not so well known as they are far beyond the reach of receiving awards but still dedicated to their passions. In India the discriminations in awarding people of different branches of fine awards is deeply eminent which reflects calumny to the field. Corrosive Indian political culture has deeply eaten up the culture of Indian fine arts. In this regard if any admirer from India feels that persons in the field of fine arts did not receive any accolades that might be a shocking but to the really dedicated persons in the field of fine arts it is not an impact oriented. True dedicated persons carry on their tasks independently bereft of any expectations of awards and accolades. Really these classes of people are praiseworthy and also deserve wholehearted obeisance from the admirers in the field of fine arts. Thus in the subsequent paragraphs it is my humble tasks to analyze deeply whether does have impact upon the people involved in the field of fine arts. Does presentation of awards carry any impact to the people of fine arts? It must be very translucent to the admirers of all branches of fine arts that sometimes awards carry deep impact upon the recipients. But not all the time presentation of awards carries any impact upon the recipients of persons in the field of fine arts. It is through tremendous perseverance and dedication that persons in the field of fine arts are always conferred upon awards in India and some South Asian nations. In this regard we can refer the memorable comments by poet, philosopher, novelist, short story writer and music composer of repute plus Nobel Laureate Rabindra Nath Tagore that, ' human beings in order to succeed in any academic disciplines or other professional fields must have utmost perseverance and dedication then real success is achievable. If success is achievable one day then we find that awards or honors are automatically conferred upon deserving persons.' These thoughts by Tagore sounds aptly true as per the real success of human beings are concerned. Apart from the perseverance and hard work concerned human beings must also be truthful to its extremity. But one cannot deny that awards definitely carry impact upon the recipient's life to excel much better in respective fields to climb at the pillar of success. Different types of fine arts: There are in all eight types of fine arts which are stated below: Architecture Sculpture Painting Music Literature Dance Theatre Cinema Impact of fine arts for social and cultural development: Fine arts no doubt play an important role in social and cultural development of any developing nation. As I write this column sitting right across from Indian city of Kolkata so my aim is to focus upon this column right upon India and Bangladesh. India and Bangladesh share common cultural and social traditions apart from political bifurcation. That is why as per social and cultural development is concerned fine arts has tremendous impact upon above factors of both nations. Awards are conferred upon people associated with fine arts in both nations but real and deserving recognitions are yet to be received by the persons who are dedicated in the respective fields. Very recently Ananda Puraskar was conferred upon Professor Anisuzzaman for his memorial anecdotes 'Bipula Prithibi'. Same way other talented souls in the field are also conferred upon awards sometimes early sometimes too late. But those who are not conferred upon any awards they sometimes become dejected but they carry on their work aplomb and dedication. Fine Arts vs. Society: Fine Arts and Society are closely interlinked. Those involved dedicatedly in different branches of fine arts are always intimately linked with or societal framework. People associated with different branches of fine arts always aim to portray different feelings of societies as well as people's sufferings from various angles. In this regard the famous quotation in D.H.Lawrence's Lady Chatterley's lover that ' fine arts imbibes the bond of fraternities and friendship among people of diverse religions and languages.' Thus summing up the above discourse one point always surmise our mind that conferring awards are not doubt relevant upon persons deeply involved with different branches of fine arts but one should not be dejected in non receipt of any awards. Initiatives and perseverance in this regard should be the continuous process in this regard.
