Shahabuddin's solo exhibition ends

A month-long solo art exhibition of celebrated artist Shahabuddin titled 'Shanti' ended in the city which began from March 19, reports UNB. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina opened the art exhibition at the National Art Gallery Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Ganges Art Gallery, Kolkata and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy jointly arranged the exhibition in association with cultural affairs ministry. UNB was the media partner of this event. Visitors of different profession and age flocked to Shahabuddin's combination of art and war in 'Shanti' across the month while many artists also observed his works from their viewpoint. The exhibition, featuring over 30 recent artworks by the maestro, were included portraits of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Rabindranath Tagore, Mahatma Gandhi together with works of Shahabuddin's famous series like "Freedom Fighter", "Birangona", "Speed", "Victory" and more. Artist Shahabuddin is a celebrated international persona and the national pride of Bangladesh. He has been significantly represented in exhibitions all across Europe and Asia. His spectacular creations are in collection of the Museum of Bourg-en-Bressein France, the National Museum of Bulgaria, the Olympic Museum of Lausanne in Switzerland, the Seoul Olympic Museum in Republic of Korea, the National Museum of Taiwan and Bangladesh National Museum other than in several noted private collections. In 2000, the government of Bangladesh hounoured Shahabuddin with 'Swadhinata Padak', while French government conferred upon him the prestigious civilian award 'Chevalier de l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres' (Knight in the Order of Arts & Literatures) in 2014.
