NSU ACM SC Innovation Challenge Season ends

News Report Being part of the world's largest computing society ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), NSU ACM Students Chapter successfully ended its 'NSU ACM SC Innovation Challenge Season-4' on Wednesday. The chief guest was A K M Khairul Alam, director general of Department of ICT, who gave an encouraging speech to all the participants highlighting the importance of this innovative event. The chair of the session was Pro Vice-Chancellor (Designate) Prof. Dr. G.U. Ahsan, says a press release. Among others, Professor Arshad M. Chowdhury, dean of School of Engineering and Physical Sciences, Dr. Sazzad Hossain, chairman of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Parisa Shakur, director of the student affairs, were present. The event ended with a vote of thanks from Zunayeed Bin Zahir, faculty advisor, NSU ACM Student Chapter. A total 54 teams took part in the project showcase with their unique product ideas. Out of all these projects, the team that succeeded to win the title of the day was 'Smart Home System Design' and the team members were- Tanvir Mahtab Uddin, Fahim Ahmed Kafi and Israt Jahan Tamanna. The 1st runners up position went to 'A novel design of robotic helping hand with multi DOF for paralysed patients' and the team members were Joyeta Saha, Nixon Dutta and Faysal Sarkar. The second runners up teams were respectively 'Conserve and Reserve: A new approach to home automation and bill management system' and the team members were Md. Shahriyar Kabir, Tasnuva Khan Dia, Zaid Farzan Chowdhury and Muntasir al Khaledunnabi and 'A low cost and portable ECG Machine' and the team members were-Rafael Hossain Rakin, Asad Siam and Md. Rafayet Hossain. In this session, two of the successful companies-Cramstack and Barikoi run by alumni of the department of ECE, NSU were rewarded with the special recognition award. This event was jointly organised by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, North South University and NSU ACM Student Chapter.
