NSU organised the seminar for the faculty members and students for encouraging their leadership role to ensure health for all, says a press release. Professor Dr. Gias U Ahsan, pro VC (designate) and dean of School and Life Sciences, NSU, said, "The disease burden, infrastructural and personnel requirements and health financing situation are the three elements that need to be analysed to plan and design of the UHC model." "The ministry of health and family welfare has already suggested a list of indicators for an essential health package. The rollout process has to be accompanied by solid public health leaders and the public health graduates can play a vital role to achieve the target," he added. The keynote speaker, Professor Dr. Muhammad Abdus Sabor, said, "Universal Health Coverage is at high priority in Bangladesh. We are particularly worried about families who fall below the poverty line when someone falls ill and the family has to struggle to pay for health care." Further, he emphasised that UHC could play a vital role by improving the current economic condition through achieving sustainable development goals. In his speech, Professor Dr. Dipak Mitra, chairman (in-charge) of Department of Public Health, emphasised the role of individual and communities for promoting healthy lifestyle to reduce the disease burden, particularly the non-communicable diseases. Approximately 200 participants consisting of faculties, professionals and students of NSU attended the seminar.
