JUTA election Feb 26

Election to the 15-member executive committee of Jahangirnagar University Teachers' Association (JUTA) will be held on February 26. "The voting will began at 9am and will continue till 3:30pm at the university teachers' club", Election Commissioner Prof A K M Abul Kalam told UNB. The commission on Monday announced the final list of candidates for the upcoming polls. Current JUTA President Prof Farid Ahmed and Prof Md Nurul Alam will contest for the president post while current JUTA Secretary Associate Prof Farid Ahmed and Prof Bashir Ahmed will contest for the general secretary post. Besides, Prof Rasheda Akhter and Prof Shafi Mohammed Tarique will contest for the vice-president post, Associate Professor Awlad Hossain and Associate Professor Shikder Md Zulkarnine will contest for joint secretary post and Professor Kabirul Bashar and Professor Md Nuhu Alam will contest for treasurer post. A total of 18 pro-Awami League teachers will contest for nine executive member posts while BNP-back teachers withdrew their candidature at a press conference on Monday.
