Steps taken to achieve cent percent electrification: Palak

NATORE, Feb 13: State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Tuesday said Bangladesh is moving fast towards achieving the goal of cent percent electrification thanks to some special development plans taken in the power sector, reports BSS. "The present pro-development government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken huge plans in developing the power sector and implementing those. It has started the construction of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant and Rampal Power Plant. We are also importing power from abroad to meet the local demand as we are committed to reach power to every household," he said. The state minister made the statements while addressing a rally on the occasion of giving new power connections to 155 households in the villages of Aftabnagar and Sardanagar under Singra Upazila of the district. Presided over by Chatardighi union Awami League acting president Shajahan Ali, the rally was also addressed by Singra upazilla Awami League president advocate Ohidur Rahman Sheikh and Chatardighi union parishad chairman Altaf Hossain Akanda, among others. Another report adds: Literary personalities at a book publication festival here have laid importance on nurturing literature and healthy culture to build a better society habitable for the future generation. They also stressed on the need for adding newer dimensions to the writings taking consideration of the present situation, future vision and perspectives of changing time while producing literary works to nurture those for spreading light in darkness. Rangpur Shahittya-Sangskriti Parishad (RSSP) organised the festival to publish a book titled ' Maanmaya Tanmoy', a collection of essays, at Town Hall auditorium on Monday night. Noted literary personality, researcher and former Head of the Department of Bengali of Rangpur Carmichael College Prof. Muhammad Alim Uddin has written the book, a press release said today. Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Rupali Bank Ltd and Member of Dhaka University Senate Md Ataur Rahman Prodhan was present as the chief guest. With RSSP President Aftab Hossain in the chair, noted writer Md Abu Bakar Siddique attended the function as special guest. Convener of the book publication festival and former Head of the Department of Bengali of Rangpur Begum Rokeya Government College Prof. Md Shah Alam delivered welcome speech.
