JP to contest independently in polls: Ershad

CHITTAGONG, Dec 27: Jatiya Party Chairman Hussain Mohammed Ershad Wednesday said his party would contest independently in the next election, terming JP as a factor in the upcoming polls, reports BSS. “JP has become a political factor for the next polls, so all leading political parties want JP to include into its alliance,” Ershad told journalists at a press conference held at Radisson Blue. Ershad, also special envoy to the Prime Minister, reiterated that Jatiya Party is now with the Awami League-led alliance but he is unable to forecast about his party’s future political course. He said JP has taken preparations to contest in the next polls independently. Ershad, a former president, urged all party leaders and activities to make the party stronger organizationally so that the JP can play a very powerful role in the upcoming general election. He called upon the JP leaders and workers to take preparations for the upcoming polls and carry out door-to-door campaign in favour of the party for the next polls.
