‘Steps taken for freedom fighters’ welfare’

MYMENSINGH, Dec 23: Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Muzammel Haque said present government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been implementing various steps for welfare of the freedom fighters, reports BSS. “The government has a plan to provide bonus among the freedom fighters on 16 December Victory Day and 26 March Independence Day every year,” he said. The minister was addressing as the chief guest at a discussion at Chota bazar Moktomonch here recently marking the Mymensingh free day. District administration and Mutijuddah Sangsad jointly organised the discussion with Deputy Commissioner Md Khalilur Rahman in the chair. Dr. M Amanullah MP addressed the function as special guest while Police Super Syed Nurul Islam, President of District AL Advocate Jahirul Haque, President of Anti Corruption Prevention Committee, District Unit Advocate Anisur Rahman, ex-Commander of District Muktijuddah sangsad Md. Anwar Hossen, Freedom Fighter Ziauddin Ahamed, among others, spoke. Muzammel Haque said Freedom Fighters joined the liberation war and sacrificed their lives for the liberation of Bangladesh replying to a call of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He also said anti-liberation forces have been hatching conspiracies against our independence and sovereignty, urging the freedom fighters to remain alert against all conspiracies. He added the government has taken steps so that the poor and disabled freedom fighters get treatment at the hospitals free of cost from next January.
