Dhaka Division suffered batting debacle in their first innings as they scored 231 for 7 against Barisal Division at stumps in the tier 1 four-day of 19th Walton Smart Fridge National Cricket League held on Friday at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna, reports BSS. Opener Rony Talukder top scored with 68 runs while Taiabur Parvez added 35 runs as Dhaka Division lost wicket in regular intervals in the face of tight bowling display by the Barisal Division bowlers after they decided to bat first. Skipper Sharif with 41 and Zahiduzzaman with 17 on the crease as the stumps were drawn for the day. Tanvir Islam and Salman shared two wickets each for Barisal. In the day’s other match, Mehrab Hossain Jr. and Mohammad Ashraful scored an unbeaten half centuries as Dhaka Metro scored 236 for 3 at stumps against Chittagong Division on the first day of tier 1 four-day on the day at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. Mehrab remained with 75 along with former national skipper M Ashraful 54 as the bails were drawn for the day. Earlier, the two Dhaka Metro openers Saykat Ali (48) and Shamsur Rahman (46) contributed 92-run opening stand, after they opted to bat first. Iftekhar Sazzad Ronny captured two wickets giving away 58 runs. The match officials after finding no possibility to stage the match finally called off the first day’s play at 3.30 pm without a ball being bowled. And rain forced also early close of first day’s play between Khulna Division and Rangpur Division of tier 1 four-day match of 19th Walton Smart Fridge National Cricket League held on Friday at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi. Being forced to bat first by Rangpur Division, Khulna opened their batting and scored 77 runs for 3 losing their three top orders batsmen early. Openers Anamul Haque with 47 and M Mithun with 5 on the crease as rain forced to stop the play. Shorawardy Shuvo bagged two wickets conceding 21 runs.
