Bangladesh needs to give focus on B2B events to promote tourism

Bangladesh needs to go for an increased business-to-business tourism events in the country to promote tourism and increase flow of foreigners giving a boost to the national economy, says a tourism sector leader, reports UNB. "Bangladesh should go for more B2B events. The government should allocate a fund to host such B2B fairs. You need to attract global tourism buyers with due care," Rezaul Ekram, Bangladesh chapter president of South Asia Tourism Federation told UNB. Rezaul, also sought the national carrier's support saying tourism does not flourish anywhere in the world without national carrier's support. "Foreign tourism product buyers, who are willing to take part in tourism fairs here, should be given special discount in availing of national carrier's tickets," he said ahead of Bangladesh International Tourism Fair (BITF) 2017. The Bangladesh Foundation for Tourism Development (BFTD) will host the tourism fair on August 10 to 12 at Bangabandhu International Conference Center. Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Rashed Khan Menon will inaugurate the fair on Thursday morning. The organizers said it is an opportunity for Bangladesh and overseas travel and tourism related agencies, service providers to showcase their products, meet overseas, local contacts and negotiate business deals and find business associates for both out and inbound tours from 11 countries.
