Plots won't yield any result: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday said Bangladesh will be built in such a way where there will be no local and foreign conspiracy, and no room for bad governance, reports UNB. "Our aim is very much clear... we want to establish Bangladesh as a peaceful country in the South Asia," she said. The Prime Minister said this while inaugurating the National Public Service Day, 2017 and distributing Public Administration Award 2017 at Osmani Memorial Auditorium. She said the Bengalee nation had suffered losses on various occasions in the past due to conspiracies both from home and abroad. "There'll be no scope for local and foreign conspiracies here from." Laying emphasis on the continuation of democratic system in the country, the Prime Minister said the absence of democratic system puts a hurdle on the march forward of a country and it ultimately takes it backward. "Make it sure there's no place for misrule and bad governance." About the natural disasters in the country, the Prime Minister mentioned that Bangladesh always faces natural calamities due to its geographical location. "We've to take forward our country braving all these odds." She said the government is working relentlessly to expedite development through establishing good governance. Hasina urged the civil servants to work with innovative ideas to resolve the problems of their respective areas and implement development programmes based on local needs. She laid emphasis on united efforts of all, including the officials of the public administration, to turn Bangladesh into a middle-income one by 2021 and an enriched one by 2041. Terming the government officials very fortunate as they have secured financial source and scope of serving people, the Prime Minister asked them to give priority to national interest instead of personal one. The Prime Minister said the objective of civil service is to ensure public services. Hasina said her government evaluates merit, qualification, efficiency and experiences of officials while promoting them. She said digital service now has reached the village level removing 'redtapism'. "A total of 5275 digital centers have been set up from where 116 types of services are being provided." Hasina said a separate branch titled 'Governance Innovation Unit' has been established and the main objective of which is to simplify government services through their new innovations. Highlighting the successes of her government including raising the per capita income, foreign currency reserve, GDP growth with the help of the public servants, she extended thanks to them for their sincere cooperation. Earlier, the Prime Minister distributed Public Administration Medals 2017 Chaired by Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam, the programme was addressed, among others, by State Minister for Public Administration Ismat Ara Sadeq and Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam. Public Administration Senior Secretary Dr M Mozammel Huq Khan delivered the address of welcome.
