Railway services now at doorsteps: Minister

Railway Minister M Mazibul Hoque on Sunday said the government has been able to reach railway services to the doorsteps of people unlike the BNP regime that had neglected it in every way, reports UNB. “We could bring the Railway sector close to people as a service-oriented institution under the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said. The minister made the remark while addressing a press briefing marking the National Public Service Day at Kamalapur Railway Station in the city. On the occasion, the Railway Minister gifted flowers, pens and chocolates among the passengers of the trains leaving Dhaka for various destinations. Minister Mazibul said the present condition of Bangladesh Railway is not like before (BNP regime) and they have changed the condition of the railway sector in a big way by adding modern facilities and services for the passengers. He said they have come out from the ‘slow-pace’ trend and expedited the services enhancing the speed and other facilities keeping the journey safe and comfortable for the commuters. The Railway Minister said they have established new rail tracks, restructured old tracks, bought new locomotives, compartments, mordenised the signaling system and increased the service quality for the commuters under the directives of the Prime Minister. “We’ve done all these things only to give better services to the passengers,” he said adding that they would observe the National Public Service Day every year to ensure quality service in this sector. The Railway Minister hoped that their initiatives which have been taken for making the Bangladesh railway modern and passenger-friendly will be continued.
