5000 travel agencies under single online system

The Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry Sunday launched Online Travel Agency Management System (OTAMS) bringing the country’s nearly 5000 travel agencies under a single online system for making their license issuing and license renewal system simple, reports BSS. “From now on, travel agents don’t need to come at our ministry for getting or renewing license. They can do it through online and definitely it will minimize red tapism,” Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon said while inaugurating the OTMAS at the conference room of the ministry at secretariat in the afternoon. The OTAMS is an online system with a web portal that will create a single data base of the country’s all travel agencies. Any travel agencies can apply for or renew license through online using that web portal. The license of hajj agencies will also be issued through the system, official sources said. The ministry will complete data entry of all travel agencies on the portal within next month and start issuing new or renewing existing licenses through the system from September 1, 2017. The Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry launched the system today marking the National public Service Day 2017. Menon said the government is committed to make the public admini-stration more skilled, transparent and people-friendly and the OTAMS is part of this endeavor. “We have already started e-filing system within our ministry for bringing more transparency as well as reducing excessive use of paper,” he said. Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary S M Golam Farroq and high officials of the ministry were present.
