Rajshahi to be modern city

RAJSHAHI, July 23: Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has been implementing various need-based schemes, including construction of new slaughter house, public toilet and smooth waste management, to build modern city, reports BSS. RCC has also started preserving the existing social, cultural and archeological heritages here aims at introducing the new generation to those. City Mayor Musaddique Hossain Bulbul came up with the remarks while addressing a meeting with ward councilors and officers and staffs of engineering section in the city bhaban conference hall here recently. Ward Councilors Monsur Rahman, Belal Ahmed and Iqbal Hossain, Chief Executive Officer Dr Sharif Uddin, Chief Engineer Ashraful Haque and Executive Engineers Nur Islam and Reajat Hossain also spoke. Time has come to prevent the existing trend of slaughtering animals here and there. Local and international development organizations should come forward and work together to prevent the trend, Bulbul said. He said collective efforts of all government and non-government organizations has become a crucial need to control the community level zoonotic diseases particularly anthrax as its risks is increasing. He laid emphasis on curbing all sorts of environment pollution in phases. Mayor underlined the need for adopting more projects for environmental development in the city. He listed various projects which are being implemented in the city and said the achievement of some projects have started becoming visible before the city dwellers.
