SC asks Moudud

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Sunday dismissed two petitions filed seeking review against the SC verdict that scrapped BNP senior leader Moudud Ahmed's possession of a house at Holding No 159 in Gulshan-2 area of the capital, reports UNB. A five-member bench led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order this morning and also gave some observations, which will be later released in the full verdict of the SC. One of the review petitions was filed by Moudud's brother Manjur Ahmed and another was filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission. Talking to reporters after the order, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said Maudud, according to the fresh order, must leave the house; otherwise, the government can take proper steps to take control over it. Meanwhile, Moudud said he will not leave the house and continue his legal fight. Earlier on August 2 in 2016, the SC released the full text of its verdict that scrapped the possession of a house. Later, Moudud filed review petition over the matter.
