Eid shopping starts in Rangpur

RANGPUR, June 4, 2017 (BSS) - The Eid shopping has started to get momentum as people of all ages, especially young girls, are rushing to shopping centres in the divisional city much ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr festivity.
According to sources in different business bodies at shopping malls, complexes, makeshift and children markets, the people have started Eid shopping from last Friday amid peaceful atmosphere. Talking to BSS today, traders at different markets said selling of Eid items, especially for children and young girls, has got huge momentum despite higher prices following further improvement in the economic conditions of common people.
“The common people and buyers are trying to finish Eid marketing as early as possible to avoid unbearable and huge rush at last days before the Eid-ul-Fitr festivity,” said Akkas Ali, a reputed businessman at Super Market in the city.
At this early moment of Eid shopping, the children markets have worn festive looks with rushing guardians with their children, girls and adolescents for buying items of their own choice and their movements have created traffic jams in the city.
While visiting ‘Shishu Mela’, ‘Shishu Bahar’, ‘Baby Shop’, ‘Banadhan Baby Plus’, ‘Shishu Sombhar’ and ‘Shishu Corner’ shops at Panchpeer Dorga Mour Bazar in the city, this reporter observed huge rush of the buyers today.
Similarly, huge sales of Eid items were noticed in Super Market, ‘Rangan’, Jahaz Company Shopping Complex, ‘Karupannya’Biponi Bitan, Shah Amanat, City Plaza, Moti Plaza, Station Market, Honumantola Market, Adi Janata, Bismillah Garments, Madina Garments, Maya Exclusive Fashion House, Muktijoddha Market, Salek Market, Jamal Market and other markets and shopping malls in the city.
According to market sources, price of clothes and other Eid items for babies, children, youths, males and females are higher by up to 40 percent this time than the previous year and the increased costs have no impact on the sales.
Each of the female three pieces is being sold at rates between Taka 900 and 16,000, saree between Taka 800 and 36,000, pant pieces between Taka 800 and 2,700, jeans pants between Taka 1,500 and 4,000 and shirt pieces between Taka 700 and 2,000.
Businessman Mizanur Rahman at Honumantola Market, expressed satisfaction over sales of the Eid clothes and other goods since the past couple of days after the government officials and employees got their salaries.
President of Rangpur Chamber of Commence and Industry Md Abul Kashem said sales of Eid items would get further momentum in the coming days till the night before Eid-ul-Fitr festivity following huge improvement in economic conditions of the people.
