Govt puts maximum priority on edn sector

RANGPUR, June 4: Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, MP, here on Sunday said the present government has put maximum priority on the education sector for flourishing talents of the students to build a meritorious nation, reports BSS. "The government has been creating all necessary facilities for our children for education to properly flourish their talent and assist them in proving and contributing their own abilities to every sector," she said. The Speaker, also Chairperson of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Executive Committee, was addressing a ceremony organised by Bangamata Parisahd on Khalashpeer Bangabandhu Degree College ground in Pirganj upazila to accord reception to SCC level 250 GPA 5+ students as the chief guest. Dr Shirin said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been implementing various programmes like sub-stipends and other assistance so that the female students could advance equally with the male students. "Our children are future of the nation---We must take them ahead---Any nation becomes great, prideful and earns dignity to keep its head high in the international arena when its children become meritorious and put their signs of talent in every sector," she said. Congratulating the brilliant students, the Speaker said they have prove their talent and abilities through brilliant results in the SCC level examinations following hard endevours of their own and teachers as well as proper care of their parents. "We are proud of our great country Bangladesh where our children are highly meritorious and they have enough talent to attain excellence in any international level competition," she said. Earlier, Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury arrived at Pirganj in the morning by road after landing at Syedpur Airport in Nilphamari and attended the reception ceremony. Chairman of the Governing Body of Khalashpeer Bangabandhu Degree College Mokarram Hossain Chowdhury Jahangir presided over the ceremony moderated by Principal of the college Mominul Islam Rantu. Chairman of Dinajpur Education Board Professor Ahmed Hossain, Director of Bangladesh Cricket Board and Organising Secretary of district Awami League (AL) Advocate Anwarul Islam, addressed the ceremony, among others. Later, the Speaker attended a civic rally jointly organised by Pirganj upazila administration and upazila AL at Pirganj upazila parisahd premises as the chief guest. On the occasion, the Speaker inaugurated construction works of academic buildings of Sahapur Girls' School and Rajarampur Junior School by unveiling plaques of the foundation stones and launched constructions of several roads. She also inaugurated newly built Pirganj Central Shaheed Minar, Muktijoddha Complex, extended building of Pirganj upazila parisahd, bridges, culverts, newly built complexes of Kabilpur and Baro Alampur union parishads and academic buildings of Madarganj Degree College. Besides, the Speaker distributed corrugated iron sheets and cash money among the victims of recent natural calamities and disasters and wheel chairs among the people with special needs. Acting Deputy Commissioner Sultana Pervin, Police Super Mizanur Rahman, Acting President of Pirganj upazila AL Advocate Azizur Rahman Ranga, its General Secretary and Mayor of Pirganj pourasabha Tazimul Islam Shamim, attended on the occasions.
