Three units of APP shut following nor'wester

BRAHMANBARIA, Apr 20: Production at three units of Ashuganj Power Plant (APP) has disrupted on Wednesday following a nor'wester, reports UNB. Engineer Sazzad Hossain, also managing director of Ashuganj Power Plant, said the power generation in three units -- unit no 3, unit no 4 and 250 MW combined cycle power plant-- at the Ashuganj plant had to be shut down suddenly around 7pm due to the nor'wester. The power supply remained cut in various areas of Brahmanbaria, Kishoreganj and Narsingdi and adjoining areas following the shutdown. "They are working hard to resume production as soon as possible after repairing the plant," said Sazzad. On the other hand, production at Ashuganj Fertiliser Factory was disrupted as Bakhrabad Gas authority closed gas supply to the factory from 10am on Wednesday, said Managing Director of the factory SM Kamran. The production of over 1200 metric tonnes of urea fertilizers every day valued at Tk 1.68 crore would remain suspended as long as the gas supply remains cut, the MD said.
