A MoU was signed between the government's Secondary Education Quality and Access Enhancement Project (SEQAEP) of the Ministry of Education and MIDAS at the MIDAS Centre at Dhanmondi in the city on Thursday.
Under the MoU, SEQAEP and MIDAS agreed to work towards providing training of trainer' (ToT) skills to teachers, orientation and basic training to teachers as well as Thana Secondary Education officials, training on procurement procedure for project officials, and entrepreneurship development training for students.
MIDAS is a leading national institution and has carried out over 800 training modules for various government and non-government entities with distinction over the years.
In addition, MIDAS has also carried out over 1,200 studies and researches for international and UN organizations, multinational, donor agencies, government and national institutions, and NGOs.
Under this MoU, MIDAS will be available to carry out various studies on impact assessment, monitoring and evaluation, validation and compliance surveys for SEQAEP.
The MoU was signed by SEQAEP Project Director (PD) and Joint Secretary Md. Shahid Bakhtiar Alam and Managing Director of MIDAS Dr Ishtiaque Zaman.
A cheque was presented to MIDAS by SEQAEP project director as the first payment for carrying out these training activities.
Arastoo Khan, additional secretary, representatives of the ministry of education, board members and senior management of MIDAS, SEQAEP project officials, representatives of the World Bank and other development partners, and civil society were present.
Arastoo Khan said, "ERD is the spokesperson for the GOB and presents to donors and development partners good project for funding. SEQAEP is certainly one of those good performing projects. It has good reviews from all around and has been earmarked for additional support by the World Bank. I congratulate the Project Director Bakhtiar Alam for taking some good initiatives, including linking up with MIDAS for the promotion of quality training."
