Pliskova, Martic in Zhengzhou final

ZHENGZHOU, Sept 14:L No.1 seed Karolina Pliskova beat Australian Ajla Tomljanovic 6-3, 6-2 to reach the final at the Zhengzhou Open, and will meet Petra Martic who tamed France’s Kristina Mladenovic 6-0, 6-3, reports Xinhua. Pliskova, the former World No.1, won 92% of her first service points and sent down six aces, she has beaten Tomljanovic three times in three matches this year. “I think I hit well for sure on my serve today so she didn’t have many chances. And I think she didn’t play actually that bad for compared to the score, it quite looks easy, but for me, it was not really easy.” Pliskova said. “Today I felt just so much better. So, of course, this is the best start of the Asian swing, I think I could not do any better. Of course, there is one more match tomorrow, so I don’t want to talk too much about what’s going to be next, just my goal is to win this tournament.” she added. Croatian Martic continued her career-best season by making her first Premier final at the Zhengzhou Open after beating Mladenovic in one hour and seven minutes. And Mladenovic racked up 11 unforced errors to only two winners in the first set, along with five double faults. “I’m really happy with how I played from the beginning until the end there. She raised her level in the second set and it was not easy for me to break her, but as I said, I went up 4-3 and that gave me a couple of easy points and I converted them.”Martic said. “The final is going to be a tough one. Pliskova is playing well on hard courts now. We played on clay last, but it’s a different story, every surface is different. “ she added.
