Tomari Dhaka' — will be screened at the
International Film Festival of South Asia - Toronto
(IFFSA Toronto) in Canada.
'Janmabhumi', (The Birthland) is a feature film on
Rohingyas directed by Proshoon Rahmaan. The film
'Janmabhumi' is a tale of a pregnant Rohingya woman
and it was filmed at the real location of the
world's largest refugee camp Kutupalong, Cox's
Bazar, Bangladesh. The characters are inspired from
true life and the cast of the film includes Rawnak
Hasan, Saira Aktar Jahan, Sangeeta Chowdhury,
Aungkon Chakma, Pamela Kechter, Nasir Uddin Khan and
Jainal Jack, among others.
On the other hand, "Iti Tomari Dhaka," Bangladesh's
first anthology films features an assortment of
shorts by eleven exceptionally promising, young
directors from the Bangladeshi film fraternity, with
Dhaka as its central theme. The directors include
Abdullah Al Noor, Golam Kibria Farooki, Krishnendu
Chattopadhyay, Mahmudul Islam, Md Robiul Alam, Mir
Mukarram Hossain, Nuhash Humayun, Rahat Rahman, Syed
Ahmed Shawki, Syed Saleh Ahmed Sobhan and Tanvir
Ahsan.
The premiere of 'Janmabhumi' was held at Cineplex
Odeon Eglinton Town Centre Cinemas in Toronto on May
18, while 'Eti Tomari Dhaka' will be screened on May
19.
