Actress Nawshaba remanded again

News Desk Actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed has been taken on a two-day fresh remand for interrogation over reported spreading of hoax regarding the recent student street movement. A Dhaka court Friday granted police prayer for putting her on the fresh remand in a case filed under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Amirul Haider Chowdhury passed the order when Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, inspector of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit and investigating officer of the case, produced Nawshaba before the court on expiry of a 4-day remand and sought a 10-day fresh remand. The court also rejected the bail petition filed by her lawyer. Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) detained the actress from Uttara area in the capital on August 4 over alleged spreading of rumours on the Facebook regarding attacks on protesting students. In a Facebook live, Nawshaba claimed that the attackers killed two students and gouged out the eyes of another at Jigatala intersection. She requested people to get united, take to the streets to 'protect' the students from attacks by Bangladesh Chhatra League activists. (Inputs taken from UNB)
