Dr. Iqbal – A freedom fighter, pioneering innovative urbanisation

Dr. H. B. M. Iqbal once responded to the call of the Liberation War, being inspired by the ideals of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He joined the Mujib Bahini after receiving extensive Guerrilla training from the Bangladesh Liberation Force (BLF) in Dehradun, India. Afterwards, Dr. Iqbal’s bravery came to light upon his active involvement in the battle front. After the independence of our motherland, Dr. Iqbal set his goals to a different agenda and started working towards making the country attain economic progress. He invested his time, expertise, finance and hard work to establish business organiz-ations and their respective economic infrastructures in a different sectors. Dr. Iqbal seeks to contribute to the country’s progress through his direct involvement in politics. He was elected as the MP from Tejgaon-Ramna constituency of Bangladesh Awami League and the Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Ministry of Science and Technology. Dr. Iqbal has already established schools, colleges and private universities and is working relentlessly to establish an educated and self-reliant nation through the formation of Nursing Institutes, Medical Colleges and Hospital, Engineering Colleges. Dr. H. B. M. Iqbal was one of the first individuals with enough expertise, experience and charisma in the proposal of the master plan of a “New Digital Dhaka” submitted to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In the plan for a “New Digital Dhaka” Dr. Iqbal outlines various plans for the reconstruction of the city’s communication system, the setting up of satellite townships around Dhaka, the modernization of our water and sanitation system, the elimination of terrorism and corruption and the ensuring of fuel supply to facilitate the progress of our capital into the digital age.
