EC announces Barisal, Rajshahi, Sylhet city poll schedule

News Desk Voting in the elections for Rajshahi, Sylhet and Barisal city corporations will be held on July 30 in what is seen as the last litmus test for the new Election Commission ahead of a crucial general election. Prior to the three city polls analogous, election to Gazipur City Corporation is set for June 26 as per a fresh schedule announced by the EC earlier. The GCC election was previously scheduled to have been held on the same date Khulna city vote took place but was deferred following a last-minute writ petition. Elections to the three cities and Khulna city were last held on June 15, 2013. Mayors in these four and in Gazipur were all elected from BNP....  read more>>
